Matthew Huggett (b. 1990) is a contemporary British painter based in Essex. His work portrays complex states of being, existential questions, and often a narration of the raw vulnerability of individuals. Offering a commentary on cultural shifts through multilayered painting. His use of ambiguity and taking inspiration from the late 19th-century symbolism movement have led to developing his personal Neo-Symbolism.

Most recently, Matthew completed paintings in an ongoing body of work titled Submerge. Exploring personal vulnerability and acceptance. His attention is currently on a new series titled Future Fables. Shifting attention from the inner self to broader society.
